Capsule Collection: 10 Clothing Items + 2 Pairs of Shoes = 30 Outfits
Whether you're working from home for the first time, a stay-at-home parent also acting as teacher, or in the unfortunate circumstance of now looking for a new job at home (or all three!), the fact is we're all spending a lot more time in the confines of our spaces. I'm certainly not here to argue that you need to dress to the nines every day but the fact of the matter (as published in numerous psychology studies) is that we tend to feel better when we're a bit pulled together. With so little in our control these days, pushing yourself to put an outfit together at least a few days a week can immensely help brighten your mood. A lot of us spent the last couple of weekends cleaning out our closets so my challenge this week is to show you just how many wearable items you have may have left. I always encourage clients to use as many workable current pieces as they can for two main reasons: to maximize the financial investments they've already made and it's much kinder to the earth to get as much life out of clothing items as possible.
With all this in mind, I have created 30 outfits in my Spring 2020 Capsule Collection Lookbook using 10 clothing items and 2 pairs of shoes. I focused on comfortable styles similar to what most of us have and I have linked all of the items in this PDF but the whole idea is that you likely have items such as these in your closets so substitute any of the items for what you already have. For example, I have a cozy leopard wrap cardigan but if you have something similar to this in another color or pattern, go for it. Or if black isn't your favorite color, switch out those items for what works well for you. The key to a capsule is complementary pieces that can be interchanged for maximum outfits so select the 10 items from your closet that will best serve you. I also put outfits together taking proportion into consideration for each of them. As you pull items from your own closet, put the outfits together in ways that make you feel like your best self. Ultimately, I want this to serve as a guide for you to try to maximize what you have hanging in your closet now.
Below is a list of the items that are linked in the Capsule Collection Lookbook. My Spring 2020 Work from Home Capsule Pinterest board has these items linked, as well as some additional options that are similar to these. Please note I don't receive any commissions for linking to items; all items linked are included because I believe they are the best versions of these types of wardrobe staples.
